CPSFC Step in Raleigh Holiday Parade 2023

CPSC Middle School Step Team performed in the Raleigh Christmas Parade. We can’t wait to see them in the Durham Holiday Parade on December 9th as well! Big thanks to Coach Schara, Coach Mia, and all the students for their hard work!

Preserving the Egret/Blue Heron Rookery

Cheryle and Judy’s 4th grade classes wrote emails to the Durham City Council, asking them to set aside part of the Ellerbe Creek as a Preserve for the Egret and Blue Heron nesting grounds. This was part of their Ecosystem Project. One of our students, Rahemm Reshamwala, went to the City Council Meeting to support voting YES for the Preserve, and he reported back that the Council voted to protect it as a preserve, so Herons and Egrets can continue to live and nest there forever! Here’s a picture of Raheem holding a Blue Heron at the Council meeting, standing with former mayor of Durham, Stephen Schewel.

Here is a link to an article about it in the N&O: https://www.newsobserver.com/news/local/counties/durham-county/article274908526.html

What Are You Thankful for, CPSC?

Almost a year ago, we asked our CPSC community what they were thankful for in 2022. We wanted to revisit and share with everyone. Enjoy!
