Who We Are

Community Partners

As CPSC grows as a learning community, our partnerships are part of our school village to achieve our Child Centered Goals for Children and our All Children Thrive mission.

Our internal and external partnerships “encourage curiosity and celebrate challenges for everyone in the school community”(2002, Initial Charter)  including our Faculty and Staff, Board, Students, and Families.

Our CPSC Learning Partners are:

Peaceful SchoolsNC

Peaceful SchoolsNC provides three tiers of Social Emotional Curriculum Support:  (1) Professional development training for All Staff, (2) Annual Conference and (3) Leadership Coaching. Peaceful Schools NC and CPSC partnered to bring Restorative Practices training to our entire staff community with this intensive, highly interactive two-day training.

PBL Works

PBL Works (formerly the Buck Institute) led three full days of project based learning (PBL) 101 for our entire faculty and staff. We have sent 10 teachers to the PBL 201 training and plan to register our faculty for advanced trainings.

Mindful Schools

Mindful Schools empowered all CPSC staff and faculty in the cultivation of joyful, equitable learning environments for ALL. Led by our Mindfulness team, CPSC is one of the most highly trained Mindfulness program trained schools in the US. We have staff trained in Mindfulness 101, 201, Coaching, and whole School Implementation. Mindful Schools closed during the pandemic, but we continue to use the resources and access skills learned in partnership with this former organization.

Institute of Restorative Practices (IIRP)

Restorative Practices is an emerging social science that studies how to strengthen relationships between individuals as well as social connections within communities. IIRP trained six staff members to become certified Restorative Practices Trainers. These staff have trained all of our faculty, offered regional training to area schools and educators and partnered with Peaceful Schools to train other learning communities.

The Century Foundation

The Century Foundation is a national leader in integrated high performing charter schools. We are a member of their Bridges Collaborative, a first-of-its-kind public school integration initiative.

National Equity Project (NEP)

The NEP trains our administrative staff in equity based leadership training. Training courses we have participated in include: Coaching for Equity – A Student Centered Approach  and Liberatory Design for Equity.

Diverse Charter School Coalition (DCSC)

DCSC has provided workshop training in child-centered Social Emotional Learning, Restorative Practices, and Academic Curriculum specifically for English Language Learners through year long Communities of Practice and yearly national convenings. They have partnered with our leadership team through their SEL & DEI Community of Practice.

The Math Learning Center Bridges Mathematics

This K-3 curriculum created NC standards aligned with hands-on math curriculum. Our teachers are both trained and resourced with the curriculum as they integrate its tools into their Math Workshop approach in our classrooms.  Our CPSC teacher professional development leaders provide in-house training quarterly to our K-3 staff on the philosophy, pedagogy and resources behind the building of mathematical reasoning and computational skills.

North Carolina Coalition for Charter Schools

We partner with NCCCS staff to navigate and introduce legislation beneficial to CPSC. This year policy advocacy has included the Charter School Transportation Grant Program, Economic Integration Walk Zone Admissions Policy and inclusion admissions preference for grandchildren of board members.

North Carolina Association for Public Charter Schools

We partner with NCAPCS to continue to offer innovative programming with flexibility and autonomy while maintaining compliance with state policy and legislation.
